Octavio Paz or chaotic enumeration

José Luis Díaz Granados

Abstract

From a historicist approach and a poetic analysis of specific texts, this article
aims to serve as an overview and guide to any reader who wants to
discover the literary work of Octavio Paz. In this way, it gathers here reflections
about his style -in constant evolution and learning-, his influences
-which, as defended in this work, vary and grow as the author himself
progresses-, or his own idea of poetry, as a core generator of meaning.
Always with a clear devotion to the Word as creator of all things -especially,
and as we shall see, the Poetic Word-, the work of the Mexican author
serves us to glimpse a type of literature present with the world and
the social, political and literary reality; without leaving aside the aesthetic
revolutions, the originality and the formal bet that he always showed
in his poetic creations.
