Octavio Paz and Julio Cortázar. Affinities and Discrepancies
Abstract
In this paper we aim to study the literary works of two of the most influential
authors of the recent literary tradition: Octavio Paz and Julio
Cortázar. Starting from their vital and cultural confluences, this article
intends to make an exhaustive analysis of the affinities and discrepancies
that characterize the production of these two authors, based on fragments
of selected stories and poems. In this way, the main hypothesis is
that — either consciously at the time of production, or without it — these
writers have managed to create a network of intertexts that allow us,
not only to know better how their works develop individually, but also to
build a literary landscape from which we can connect them and access a
way of writing that has already marked forever the History of Literature.
